Elite Eight Update

The theme of Little Robby's pack meeting on Thursday was magic. In the spirit of that pack meeting, I thought I'd whip up some spreadsheet magic and see who's most likely to pull this year's White family March Madness title out of their hat. With seven games remaining (as of Saturday morning), there are 128 possible ways the tournament can play out. Since all outcomes aren't equally likely it's only a rough guide; still, there were some interesting results. Drum roll please...

Top O' the Heap:
At this point, Sharon's got the best shot at the title, with 28% of the possible outcomes resulting in her coronation. Others with at least a 10% chance of winning: Jon, Hepworth Jr, and myself.

Saturday Games to Watch:
A lot of folks need a win by one team or another today to stay in the running for the top spot:
*Chap and Andra need a Xavier win today over UCLA.
*On the other side of that matchup, Dad, Forrest, Wendy, Mom, and Tom need UCLA to win.
*Tom also needs a North Carolina win today to stay afloat, as does David.

Sorry, Better Luck Next Year:
The following are out of contention for the '08 family title: Abbie, Hi Dada, Summer, Kaci, Logan, Doris, and Tommy. Next year, try filling out four brackets to maximize your chances. You know what they say—pick early, pick often! :)

Go Team!
If you're still in the running and want to have the best shot at winning the family crown, here's who you should be rooting for to win the national championship:
Tom: North Carolina
Sharon: NC, Louisville, or Texas
Jon: Davidson
Hepworth Jr: Memphis
Dad: Davidson
David: NC
Hep Twerp: UCLA
Robby: Kansas
Forrest: UCLA
Wendy: UCLA
Chap: Texas
Mom: UCLA
Andra: Toss-up between Kansas, Memphis, and Xavier

I'll post an update once we know who's in the Final Four.
